Lenny Williams apparently gives a hoot. He will be a future Owl.
Williams, a senior quarterback at Sto-Rox and the leading passer in WPIAL history, has made his college decision. He made a verbal commitment to the Temple Owls Tuesday night.
Williams talked about possibly playing a position other than quarterback in college. But Temple wanted him as a quarterback.
"I think it's a good level for him," said Sto-Rox coach Dan Bradley. "They run the spread offense and use a lot of the same stuff we use, concept-wise. So going in, he'll be prepared."
At one time, Williams was also offered scholarships by Akron, Bowling Green and Rutgers. Bradley said Temple recruited Williams the hardest.
Williams was recruited by Terry Smith, who is in his first season as a Temple assistant. Smith used to be the head coach at Gateway High School.
It wasn't all that long ago that Temple's starting quarterback was also a former Sto-Rox quarterback who at one time was also the leading passer in WPIAL history. Adam DiMichele played for the Owls and is is now a graduate assistant coach at Temple.
Williams has more than 8,000 career yards passing and has led Sto-Rox to the WPIAL Class A championship game this Saturday for the third year in a row.
