Yale advances to title game in OT

Written by Jenn Menendez on .

Yale advanced to the national title game tonight, beating the University of Massachusetts at Lowell 3-2 in overtime at Consol Energy Center.

Andrew Miller scored the game-winner at 6:59 of OT after his team outshot the Riverhawks a remarkable 47-18.

UMass-Lowell goalie Connor Hellebuyck had 44 saves in the loss.

The second semifinal between Quinnipiac and St. Cloud State should start at 8:45 p.m. after the ice is cleared, and both teams have a chance to warm-up.

Yale is the only program here for the Frozen Four that had ever been this far as a program. The Bulldogs made the final four in 1952 but finished third.
