-Brad Thiessen made 17 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 3-1 home loss to the Manchester Monarchs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton finished the regular season with a 42-30-2-2 record and currently sits in fifth place of the Eastern Conference with 88 points.

Atlantic Division

-Shootout goals by Brad Boyes and John Tavares gave the Islanders a 5-4 win against the Jets. Josh Bailey and Frans Nielsen each had a regulation goal and an assist for New York while teammate Kyle Okposo and Lubomir Visnovsky each recorded two assists. Evgeni Nabokov made 24 saves in the victory. Kyle Wellwood led Winnipeg with two regulation goals.

Brian Campbell led Florida with a goal and an assist.

Northeast Division

-Two goals by James van Riemsdyk led the Maple Leafs to a 4-1 win against the rival Senators. Cody Franson and Phil Kessel each recorded two assists for Toronto while teammate James Reimer made a whopping 49 saves.

-The Maple Leafs secured a playoff berth for the first time since 2003-04.

-Canadiens defenseman Raphael Diaz returned to the lineup after missing 25 games due to a concussion.

Southeast Division

-Two goals and an assist by captain Alex Ovechkin led the Capitals to a 5-1 rout of the Canadiens. Troy Brouwer added two goals for Washington while teammate Mike Ribeiro recorded three assists. Braden Holtby made 35 saves in the victory.

Central Division

-Red Wings forward Drew Miller will be sidelined four to eight weeks due to a broken hand.

-The Predators assigned forwards Daniel Bang and Kevin Henderson to Milwaukee of the AHL.

Northwest Division

-A shootout goal by Maxime Lapierre gave the Canucks a 2-1 win against the Red Wings. Cory Schneider made 34 saves in the win.

-The Flames signed goaltender Joey macDonald to a one-year contract extension worth $925,000. In the final year of a deal with a salary cap hit of $550,000, MacDonald, 33, has appeared in 18 games this season, has a 7-7-1 record with a 2.91 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.

-EN Says: MacDonald is a reliable option as a backup provided your starter plays around 65 games a season.

-The Oilers signed forward Martin Gernat, a fifth-round pick in 2011, to a three-year entry-level contract.

Pacific Division

-Shootout goal by Mikkel Boedker and David Schlemko gave the Coyotes a 3-2 win against the Blackhawks. Mike Smith made 36 saves in the victory.

-Ugly Goal of the Day: Phoenix's Rostislav Klesla fooled Chicago's Corey Crawford with this shot from the neutral zone:

-Prior to the game, Coyotes defenseman Keith Yandle, a native of Boston, wore a jersey with the name of Martin Richard, an eight-year-old boy who died during Monday's bombings at the Boston Marathon:

-Former Penguins defensive prospect Jake Muzzin has found a home in Los Angeles.
