-The Penguins signed undrafted goaltender Eric Hartzell (above), formerly of Quinnipiac, to a one-year entry-level contract through the end of the 2012-13 season. Hartzell, 23, appeared in 42 games this past season and had a 30-7-5 record, a 1.57 goals-against average and .933 save percentage. Leading Quinnipiac to an appearance in the NCAA championship game this past weekend at Consol Energy Center, Hartzell (6-foot4, 187 pounds), was a first-team All-American.
-A hat trick, including a goal in overtime, by Chad Kolarik gave the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a 5-4 road win against the St. John's IceCaps. Trevor Smith added a goal and an assist for the Penguins while teammate Alex Grant recorded two assists. Brad Thiessen made 19 saves in the victory which was Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's seventh consecutive.
-Happy 48th birthday to the best power forward in franchise history:
-Happy 33rd birthday to former Penguins defenseman Micki DuPont. Acquired at the 2003 trade deadline along with Mathias Johansson in a deal which sent Shean Donovan to the Flames, Dupont's Penguins career amounted to three game and one assist with the 2006-07 team. In the 2007 offseason, he joined the Blues as a free agent. He currently plays for Kloten of the NLA in Switzerland.
-After the Jump: Winnipeg's Tobias Enstrom is dealing with a back injury and the Avalanche is officially eliminated from the postseason.

-Jhonas Enroth made 32 saves for the Sabres in a 3-1 win against the Lightning. Tampa Bay has lost three consecutive games.
