-An overtime goal by Alex Grant gave the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a 3-2 road win against the Adirondack Phantoms. Brian Gibbons recorded two assists for the Penguins while teammate Jeff Zatkoff made 27 saves.

-Happy 38th birthday to former Penguins defenseman Hal Gill. Acquired at the 2008 trade deadeline in exchange for drafts picks. Gill spent parts of two seasons with the Penguins, both of which, ended in the Stanley Cup Final. He finished 2007-08 by appearing in 18 games for the Penguins and scoring four points. In the 2009 postseason, Gill saw action in 20 games and recorded one assist. He followed that up in 2008-09 by playing in 62 games and scoring 10 points. He appeared in all 24 postseason games that spring, recorded two points and helped the franchise claim its third Stanley Cup championship. During the 2009 offseason, he joined the Canadiens as a free agent. In 80 regular season games with the Penguins, Gill scored 14 points. In 44 posteason games, he recorded three assists. He is currently a member of the Predators.

-Happy 36th birthday to former Penguins forward Ville Nieminen. Acquired along with Rick Berry at the 2002 trade deadeline in a deal which sent Darius Kasparaitis to Colorado,  Nieminen spent parts of two season with the Penguins. He finished 2001-02 by playing in 13 games for the Penguins and scoring three points. In 2002-03, Nieminem saw action in 75 games and scored 21 points. During the 2003 offseason, he joined the Blackhawks as a free agent. In 88 games with the Penguins, he scored 24 points. He is currently a member of Örebro of the Allsvenskan in Sweden.

-Happy 40th birthday to former Penguins forward Tyler Wright. Acquired in the 1996 offseason in a a deal which sent a draft pick to the Oilers, Wright spent four seasons with the Penguins. In 1996-97, he saw action in 45 games and scored four points. During 1997-98, Wright played in all 82 games and scored seven points. He would play in six postseason games that spring and recorded one assist. He followed that up in 1998-99 by seeing action in 61 games and somehow failed to record a point. He continued that scoring pace in that seasons' playoffs by playing in in 13 games and failed to record a single point. In 1999-2000, played in 50 games and netted 22 points. He played in 11 postseason games that spring and contributed four points. During the 2000 offseason, he was claimed by Blue Jackets in the expansion draft. In 238 regular season games with the Penguins, he scored 33 points. In 30 postseason games, he scored five points. He currently is a development coach with the Blue Jackets.

Atlantic Division

-“Maybe coming into a new dynamic here will help me. I’m going to do whatever the coaches ask me to do." - Former Penguins forward Steve Sullivan on rejoining the Devils.

-The Devils recalled forward Jacob Josefson from Albany of the AHL.

-The Islanders signed defenseman Scott Mayfield, a second-round pick in 2011, to a three-year entry level contract. Mayfield spent the past two seasons with the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL.

Northeast Division

-A goal and an assist by Jochen Hecht led the Sabres past the Senators, 4-2. Adam Pardy and Cranberry native Mike Weber each had two assists for Buffalo while teammate Ryan Miller made 35 saves. Mika Zibanejad recorded two assists for Ottawa.

-Bruins forward Chris Kelly resumed practicing for the first time since suffering a broken left tibia March 11.

-The Bruins signed undrafted forward Matthew Lindblad, formerly of Dartmouth, to an entry-level contract. Terms were not revealed.

Southeast Division

-Jets defenseman Zach Redmond resumed skating for the first time since suffering a serious cut on his right leg in February.

-Here's a good look at the gruesome scar from Redmond's injury:

-The Hurricanes recalled defenseman Brett Bellemore from Charlotte of the AHL.

-The Lightning recalled defenseman Matt Toarmina from Syracuse of the AHL.

-The Capitals signed defenseman Patrick Wey, a fourth-round pick in 2009, to a two-year, entry-level contract. He is a native of Mt. Lebanon.

Central Division

-Two goals by Pavel Datsyuk, including one in overtme, gave the Red Wings a 3-2 win against the Avalanche. Captain Henrik Zetterberg recorded two assists for Detroit while teammate Jimmy Howard made 33 saves.

-Jake Allen made 35 saves for the Blues in a 3-1 win against the Blue Jackets. Jay Bouwmeester recorded two assists for St. Louis.

-The Blue Jackets recalled defenseman Cody Goloubef from Springfield of the AHL under emergency conditions.

-Predators forward Gabriel Bourque is dealing with an "upper-body" injury.

Northwest Division

-The Canucks assigned forward Nicklas Jensen to Chicago of the AHL.

Pacific Division

-Kari Lehtonen made 27 saves for the Stars in a 3-1 win against the Ducks. Vernon Fiddler recorded two assists for Dallas.

-There are way too many things going on in this photo:

-Antti Niemi made 23 saves for the Sharks in a 2-1 win against the Flames. San Jose has won seven consecutive games.

-Happy times for San Jose's Joe Pavelski:

-The Sharks signed undrafted forwards Rylan Schwartz, formerly of Colorado College, and Eriah Hayes, formerly of Minnesota State, to entry-level contracts. Terms were not reported.

-With goaltender Jonas Hiller dealing with an illness, the Ducks recalled goaltender Igor Bobkov from Norfolk of the AHL.

Adams Division

-Former Islanders forward Rhett Rakhshani has joined Växjö of Sweden's Elitserien.
