Penguins

-The Penguins used a rule in the new collective bargaining agreement which allows the Hurricanes to take on some of Jokinen's salary.

Atlantic Division

-Ilya Bryzgalov made 25 saves for the Flyers in a 5-3 win against the Maple Leafs. Erik Gustafsson and Sean Couturier each recorded two assists for Philadelphia. Captain Dion Phaneuf had two assists for Toronto.

-The Devils scratched Penguins forward Tom Kostopoulos as a precaution against the Bruins last night after he was injured in a fight against the Islanders Monday.

Northeast Division

-Tuukka Rask made 40 saves for the Bruins in a 1-0 shutout of the Devils. It was the 14th shutout of his career. Boston has won three consecutive games.

-In his debut with the Bruins, former Penguins captain Jaromir Jagr scored the game's only goal with his skate:

-“Sometimes you have to be lucky to score. I think that’s the first time I scored with my leg, I guess. When I was 25, I wouldn’t have liked that goal, but at 41, I’ll take anything right now.” - Jagr on his goal.

-Save of the Night: New Jersey's Martin Brodeur on Boston's Nathan Horton:

-Two goals and an assist by Michael Ryder led the Canadiens to a 4-1 win against the Jets. Captain Brian Gionta added a goal and an assist for Montreal while teammates Lars Eller and P.K. Subban each recorded two assists. Peter Budaj made 33 saves in the victory.

-Happy times for Price:

-Canadiens forward Tomas Plekanec is dealing with a groin injury.

-Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul left last night's game against the Flyers in the first period due to an "upper-body" injury.

Southeast Division

-A shootout goal by captain Alex Ovechkin gave the Capitals a 2-1 win against the Islanders. Braden Holtby made 35 saves in the victory.

-“Our team game has come a long way. I really think that we're starting to grasp the system and the advantages we can get from it.” - Capitals forward Brooks Laich on his team taking over first place in the Southeast Division as a result of the win.

-Laich left the game in the third period due to an undisclosed injury.

-In his debut with the team, Ben Bishop made 35 saves for the Lightning in a 5-0 shutout of the Hurricanes. It was his third career shutout. Martin St. Louis collected a goal and two assists for Tampa Bay while teammate Benoit Pouliot added a goal and an assist.

-Shootout goals by Penguins athletic trainer Chris Stewart, Andy McDonald, David Perron, Alexander Steen and Kevin Shattenkirk gave the Blues a 4-3 win against the rival Blackhawks. Adam Cracknell scored two regulation goals for St. Louis while Chris Porter recorded two assists. Brian Elliott made 33 saves in the victory. Captain Jonathan Toews led Chicago with a regulation goal and an assist.

-The Blue Jackets activated Dubinsky ("lower body") and forward Nick Folingo ("upper body") from injured reserve and assigned forward Sean Collins to Springfield of the AHL.

-The Predators recalled forward Chris Mueller and defenseman Ryan Ellis from Milwaukee of the AHL under emergency conditions.

-The Blues signed Chris Porter to a two-year contract extension worth a total of $1.35 million. Porter, 28, is currently on a one-year two-way contract. In 16 games this season, he has four points (one goal, four assists).

Northwest Division

-Cory Schneider made 23 saves for the Canucks in a 4-0 shutout of the Oilers. Captain Henrik Sedin had a goal and an assist for Vancouver while teammate Jason Garrison recorded two assists.
