Penguins

-Marc-Andre Fleury officially announced his retirement. He plans on taking up professional cannonballing.

-"We've played without Sidney before. We've played without [Evgeni Malkin] before. That's the adversity you go through." - Ray Shero on Sidney Crosby's recovery from a broken jaw.

-Paul Martin will be sidelined four to six weeks following hand surgery. (PG+)

-Brooks Orpik's (right) next game will be his 622nd with the Penguins, most in franchise history by a defenseman.

-“It was different seeing him in a Penguins uniform. I mean, I grew up watching Jarome play. I remember the battle with Tampa in the (2004 playoffs). We were just talking about it the other day in Chicago — I still think it’s one of the best Stanley Cup finals of all time. We were talking about where guys were at that point in their careers. I was just going into my second year of junior.” - Flames defenseman Chris Butler on former captain Jarome Iginla.

-Happy 46th birthday to former Penguins forward Lee Giffin. A second-round pick of the club in 1985, Giffin spent parts of two seasons wth the Penguins. As a rookie in 1986-87, he appeared in eight games and scored two points. He followed that up in 1987-88 by playing in 19 games and recorded two assists. After spending all of 1988-89 with the Penguins' IHL affiliate in Muskegon, Giffin was traded to the Rangers for future considerations in the 1989 offseason. In 27 games with the Penguins, Giffin scored four points.

-After the Jump: Former Penguins Ruslan Fedotenko and Mark Letestu get assists while Maxime Talbot suffers a broken left leg.

Atlantic Division

-An overtime goal by former Penguin Ruslan Fedotenko gave the Flyers a wild 5-4 win against the rival Capitals. Kimmo Timonen had a goal and three assists for Philadelphia while teammate Claude Giroux netted a goal and two assists. Ilya Bryzgalov made 25 saves in the victory. Marcus Johansson led Washington with a goal and an assist.

-Flyers forward and former Penguin Maxime Talbot will be sidelined indefinitely due to a broken left leg. He was injured after missing this hit on Green in the second period:

-Hit of the Night: Washington's Steve Olesky smacked Giroux to the ice then had to fight Jakub Voracek afterwards:

-A goal by Timonen with 9.5 seconds remaining in regulation forced overtime

-Thinking Out Loud: If Backstrom lays down to block the shot or even force it high, his team probably gets a win. Instead, he stands straight up and screen's his goaltender, Braden Holtby, who didn't have a view of the puck.

-Fedotenko's goal:

Northeast Division

-Anton Khudobin made 26 saves for the Bruins in a 2-0 shutout of the Sabres. It was his second career shutout. Nathan Horton and David Krejci each had a goal and an assist for Boston.

-Bruins defenseman and Mt. Lebanon native Matt Bartkowski recorded his first career NHL point, an assist.

Southeast Division

-Lightning rookie defenseman Andrej Sustr took the long way to the NHL.

Central Division

-An overtime goal and an assist by former Penguin Mark Letestu gave the Blue Jackets a 2-1 win against the Ducks. Fire Ray Shero. Sergei Bobrovsky made 29 saves in the victory.

-Letestu's goal:

-Two goals and an assist by Gibsonia native Brandon Saad led the Blackhawks to a 7-1 rout of the rival Red Wings. Dave Bolland added two goals for Chicago while teamate Jonathan Toews collected a goal and two assists. Corey Crawford made 33 saves in the victory.

-Blackhawks forward Viktor Stalberg played after receiving 50 to 60 stitches on his jaw after taking a puck to the face Friday.

-Red Wings captain/forward Henrik Zetterberg was scratched due to a groin ailment.

-Detroit forward and former Penguin Mikael Samuelsson left the game due to an "upper-body" injury.

-The Red Wings recalled defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo from a conditioning assignment with Grand Rapids of the AHL and assigned defenseman Brian Lashoff to Grand Rapids.

-Predators forward Mike Fisher is dealing with a hand injury.

Northwest Division

-Avalanche forward Milan Hejduk will be sidelined indefinitely due to a shoulder injury.

Pacific Division

-Jonathan Bernier made 13 saves for the Kings in a 3-2 win against the Stars. Former Penguin Alex Goligoski recorded two assists for Dallas. Fire Ray Shero.
