Penguins

-Update: Kris Letang was placed on injured reserve due to a "lower-body" injury, Simon Despres was recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Robert Bortuzzo was assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on a conditioning assignment.

-Dave Molinari's recap from last night's game. "It's our opinion in here that he shoved [Kennedy]. That's what we all thought." - Matt Cooke accusing Canadiens captain Brian Gionta of shoving Tyler Kennedy into Marc-Andre Fleury at the end of the second perio. Fleury left the game due to an unisclosed injury.

Atlantic Division

-Rick Nash had two goals and an assist for the Rangers in a 5-2 win against the rival Flyers. Derek Stepan added a goal and three assists for New York while teammate Brad Richards collected a goal and an assist. Henrik Lundqvist made 31 saves in the victory. Jakub Voracek led Philadelphia with a goal and an assist.

-Happy times for the Flyers. Not so much for the Rangers:

-During pregame warm ups, the Flyers honored teammate Kimmo Timonen for recently playing in his 1,000th career game:

-Rangers coach John Tortorella won his 400th career game.

-Evgeni Nabokov made 20 saves for the Islanders in a 3-2 win against the Capitals. Washington had a three-game winning streak snapped.

-The Devils signed defenseman Jon Merrill, a second-round pick in 2010, to a three-year entry-level contract.

Northeast Division

-Two goals by Joffrey Lupul led the Maple Leafs to a 3-2 win against the Panthers. Tyler Bozak and Phil Kessel each recorded two assists for Toronto while teammate Ben Scrivens made 40 saves.

-The Senators placed forward Kaspar Daugavins on waivers, recalled forward Mike Hoffman from Binghamton of the AHL and assisted defenseman Dave Dziurzynski to Binghamton.

-The Bruins signed defenseman Matt Bartkowski, a native of Mt. Lebanon, to a one-year contract extension worth $650,000 and undrafted defenseman Chris Casto, formerly of Minnesota-Duluth, to an entry-level contract.

Southeast Division

-Evander Kane had a goal and three assists for the Jets in a 4-1 win against the Hurricanes. Ondrej Pavelec made 38 saves in the victory.

-Fluky Goal of the Night: Carolina's Jamie McBain backhanded a goal into his own net:

-Kane's success didn't seem to impress at least one Carolina fan:

-Pavelec had to stretch out for this save against Carolina's Jiri Tlusty:

-Martin St. Louis and Steven Stamkos each had a goal and an assist for the Lightning in a 2-1 win against the Sabres. Mathieu Garon made 13 saves for Tampa Bay.

-Lightning assistant coach Wayne Fleming passed away following a lengthy battle with brain cancer. He was 62.

-The Lightning assigned defenseman Mike Lee to Syracuse of the AHL.

-The Hurricanes placed forward Jussi Jokinen and Tim Wallace, a former Penguin, on waivers.

Central Division

-Ray Emery made 16 saves for the Blackhawks in a 2-0 shutout of the Flames. Patrick Kane recorded two assists for Chicago.

-Goal of the Night: During the second intermission, Mr. T pitied and shot a puck into the net:

Northwest Division

-Nikolai Khabibulin made 43 saves for the Oilers in a 3-0 shutout of the Blues. It was his 46th career shutout. Jordan Eberle had two goals and an assist for Edmonton while teammate Taylor Hall added a goal and two assists.

-Edmonton's Mike Brown and St. Louis' Barrett Jackman had issues:

-A shootout goal by Maxim Lapierre gave the Canucks a 1-0 win against the Blue Jackets. Cory Schneider made 17 saves for Vancouver to record a shutout. Columbus' Sergei Bobrovsky was also credited with a shutout after making 34 saves.

Pacific Division

-The Kings as well as the MLS' Los Angeles Galaxy celebrated their recent championships with President Barack Obama at the White House:

-The Stars assigned forward Reilly Smith and former Penguins defensive prospect Joe Morrow to Texas of the AHL.

-In his debut with the Texas Stars, Morrow recorded two assists in a 7-6 overtime win against the Houston Aeros.
