Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

"Twenty Years Later" is a segment with a highly unimaginative name which will appear on Empty Netters throughout the 2012-13 season. We will examine the Penguins' 1992-93 season which led to the only President's Trophy in franchise history. The 1992-93 squad is commonly regarded as the most talented in the history of the Penguins. We will look back on games on the date they happened.

Today, we look at the Penguins' 3-2 loss against the Winnipeg Jets, Jan. 10, 1993.

The Penguins opened a two-game road trip at the Winnipeg Arena. A power-play goal by defenseman Larry Murphy against goaltender Bob Essenssa 8:58 into the contest gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead. Assists went to center Ron Francis and right winger Rick Tocchet.

Less than half a minute after that, another power-play goal by right winger Joe Mullen made it a 2-0 game. Right winger Shawn McEachern and defenseman Ulf Samuelsson collected assists.

The Jets got on the scoreboard at the 13:02 mark when rookie right winger Teemu Selanne scored against goaltender Ken Wregget. The lone assist was credited to defenseman Phil Housley.

A power-play goal by left winger Keith Tkachuk tied the game, 2-2, at 12:23 of the second period. Assists went to defenseman Fredrik Olausson and Housley.

The game-winning goal was scored by Housley at 17:14 off assists from Selanne and rookie center Alexei Zhamnov.

Notes:

-Wregget made 26 saves in the loss.

-Housley played in his 800th career game.
