-Sidney Crosby and Ron Burkle spearhead progress in meetings between the NHL and NHLPA last night.

-Crosby and Craig Adams (above, being photogenic) were among the 18 players who represented the NHLPA. (PG+)

-Burkle and Mario Lemieux have had talks with Crosby and his agent, Pat Brisson, in the past few weeks on how to resolve the lockout.

-Lemieux and CEO David Morehouse are expected to attend a board of governors meeting in New York.

-“In some ways I’d say it might be the best day we’ve had, which isn’t too overly optimistic of a picture — there’s still a lot of work to do and a lot to be done." - NHL special counsel Steve Fehr.

-Forward prospect Anton Zlobin was invited to Russia's selection camp for the upcoming World Junior Championships. Additionally, forward prospect Teddy Blueger (right) will compete for Latvia. (PG+)

-Deryk Engelland was held without a point for Rosenborg Elite in a 3-1 win against Vålerenga Hockey in Norway's Get Ligaen.

-Former Penguins forward Kris Beech has joined AIK of Sweden's Elitserien.

Southeast Division

-Lightning forward Dana Tyrell has joined HC Banska Bystrica of the Slovak Extraliga.

-"It was chewy. It's tough to explain what it tastes like." - Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman on eating horse meat in Kazakhstan. He is currently playing for Barys in Russia's KHL.

Pacific Division

Smythe Division

-Forwards J.T. Miller, Vince Trocheck, Riley Barber and goaltender John Gibson, all local players, were chosen for the United States' selection camp for the upcoming World Junior Championships.
