Sources: Duquesne search nearing end

Written by Jenn Menendez on .

Multiple sources have told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the coaching search at Duquesne is nearing a close.

One source said a hire is expected to be announced by Tuesday, but remember these things have a way of not exactly sticking to a steadfast timeline.

One name brought to my attention in the last couple of days - that appears to have some legs - is Jim Ferry, head coach at Long Island University Brooklyn.

Let me be very clear, his status as a candidate is unclear, but there is enough information to say this is at the very least a name to pay attention to in the next few days.

Ferry has been at LIU Brooklyn for 10 seasons, and was named the Northeast Conference coach of the year in 2011 and 2005.

His team beat Robert Morris in the NEC title game this year to make a second straight appearance in the NCAA tournament.
