Pitt has six on All-ACC Academic team

Written by Sam Werner on .

In another reminder that football season never actually ends, the ACC released its academic all-league team today (presumably because they had to wait for all the first semester grades to come in). Pitt had six players make the 67-member team. To be eligible for the team, players must have had a 3.0 grade point average this past semester, as well as a cumulative 3.0 GPA for their entire academic careers. Players in graduate school had to maintain a 3.5 GPA.

The Pitt players to make the cut were: quarterback Tom Savage, safety Terrish Webb, safety Ray Vinopal, tight end Scott Orndoff, offensive lineman Adam Bisnowaty and punter Matt Yoklic. The first four are undergraduates, while Yoklic is pursuing graduate studies in higher education management.

With the six selections, Pitt tied for the second-most selections with Maryland and N.C. State. Duke led the way by a mile with 21 nominations.
