WVU-Penn State close to renewing rivalry

Written by Jenn Menendez on .

West Virginia is close to renewing its rivalry with Penn State, a source confirmed to the Post-Gazette.

The source said it will be a home-and-home series and set in the next decade, sometime after 2020.

The source said the games will be the opening game of both seasons.

The two teams met 59 times between 1904 and 1992, but haven't played since.

CBSSports first reported earlier this afternoon the two sides were working on renewing the rivalry on or after 2020.
