West Virginia is on Rushel Shell’s short list for a transfer.
Shell, the former Pitt running back, has narrowed his transfer choices to West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio State, according to his mother Toni Zuccaro who spoke with the Post-Gazette yesterday.
Shell played one season at Pitt, asked to transfer, then picked UCLA before a change of heart in recent days.
The question is how interested in Shell is West Virginia?
Short answer: There's no reason to think they wouldn't be interested.
Tony Gibson recruited him to Pitt when he was on the staff there, and the two, according to sources, have been in contact again.
The exact level of mutual interest is unclear, but Shell landing at WVU is certainly possible based on that relationship.
WVU returns some talent at running back in Dustin Garrison and Andrew Buie, has junior college recruit Dreamius Smith ready to debut this fall, then reportedly landed former Houston RB Charles Sims, a transfer who will be immediately eligible.
This one will likely take a bit to play out.
