Micah Mason out 4-6 weeks with broken right hand

Duquesne sophomore guard Micah Mason will miss 4-6 weeks with a broken bone in his right hand, second-year coach Jim Ferry announced Wednesday.

Mason was granted a medical hardship waiver the week before the season opener to gain immediate eligibility after transferring from Drake, and he averaged 8.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in his first four games as a Duke.

In his first start, a 70-59 victory over Albany on Wednesday, Mason scored just three points and spent most of the game on the bench with foul trouble and with a hand injury sustained in the first half.

Doctors discovered this week that the injury was a broken hand, which is now in a cast.
