GAMEDAY: Pitt vs Old Dominion

We're just over an hour away from Pitt's kickoff against Old Dominion, and here are a few notes before we get going tonight.

- Wide receiver Devin Street (shoulder) will not dress for Pitt tonight. Street was injured at the very end of Pitt's loss to Virginia Tech last week and did not practice for most of this week. Expect redshirt senior Ed Tinker to start in his place. Left guard Cory King (back) is also out for Pitt tonight. Redshirt senior Ryan Schlieper will start in his place.

- Running back James Conner will dress and is expected to play for Pitt tonight. Conner banged up his shoulder last week, the same injury he suffered during training camp, but practiced for most of the week. Expect Pitt to lean on the running game against an overmatched Old Dominion offense.

- Here's my story from today's P-G about Pitt avoiding another disappointing upset to a I-AA team after losing to Youngstown State last year.

As always, you can follow along at @SWernerPG for the latest tonight.

HALFTIME UPDATE: We hit halftime with Pitt leading Old Dominion 21-10. It looked a little shaky early as ODU went up 10-0 after the first quarter, but Pitt got its feet under it and rallied back behind a strong performance by Isaac Bennett (15 carries, 127 yards, three TDs). We haven't seen any James Conner, and at this point I wouldn't expect to.

I think there's still some concern on defense that the Monarchs have been able to convert some long third downs to open guys downfield. The upside is that Pitt is running the ball at will against the ODU defense, so it should have to get too complicated for the Panthers in the second half. Keep running, and they should be fine.
