Apologies for allowing this blog to be dormant for so long. As of earlier this month, I am the new Duquesne basketball and West Virginia football beat writer for the Post-Gazette. I can assure you the Dukes Dispatches will be buzzing in no time and will be kept current with all things Dukes.
I couldn't be more pleased to be in this position at the Post-Gazette, and I certainly look forward to engaging with the Duquesne fan base over the coming weeks and months and years. From what I'm told, the readership here is fiercely loyal and passionate. I think we'll get along, you and I.
For a little starter information on me: I'm a 6-foot-3, 182-pound guard from middle-of-nowhere mid-Michigan. I spent the last four years at the University of Michigan, covering everything from gymnastics to basketball to ice hockey to football. And, yes, I'll do what I can do channel that magic from Michigan's Final Four run this spring and bring it along to Pittsburgh.
I interned at the Post-Gazette last summer, writing everything from preps to pros, but never touched anything Duquesne. Early this summer, while I was interning in the sports section at the Indianapolis Star, I got a call from Post-Gazette sports editor Jerry Micco offering me the job, and I barely had to give it a second thought. Couldn't ask for a better city or better opportunity at 22 years old.
That's quite enough about me. If you're interested in learning more or reading past clips, take a gander here.
Before I tip my cap and bid you good night, I'd truly love to get some feedback from you. We're given plenty of freedom here on the blog, and I think it important to strike a balance between being a news bulletin, a sounding board, and an avenue for covering the team in a more creative capacity. What would you like to see, though? I certainly have my own ideas about ways to diversify coverage (mailbags, videos, recruiting, etc.), but please, please don't hesitate to throw a thought below in the comments.
