-Happy 41st birthday to former Penguins forward Steve McKenna (right). One of the tallest players in franchise history at 6-foot-8, McKenna spent parts of three seasons with the Penguins. He initially came to Pittsburgh midway through the 2000-01 season in a deal which sent Roman Simicek to the Wild. In 34 games with the Penguins that campaign, McKenna failed to score a point but recorded 100 penalty minutes. During the 2001 offseason, he joined the Rangers a free agent but returned to the Penguins in 2002 once again as a free agent. In 2002-03, McKenna, playing partially on a line with Mario Lemieux and Alex Kovalev, set career highs in games (79), goals (nine) and points (10) and led the team with 128 penalty minutes. McKenna's final season in the NHL was 2003-04. He saw action in 49 games, scored three points and recorded 85 penalty minutes. During the 2004-05, McKenna joined Nottingham in Britain. In 162 games with the Penguins, McKenna scored 13 points and compiled 313 penalty minutes.
-Happy 44th birthday to former Penguins forward Roman Oksiuta. Acquired at the 1997 trade deadline in a deal with sent Richard Park to the Mighty Ducks, Oksiuta's entire Penguins' career amounted to seven games and and no points in 1996-97. He was released in the 1997 offseason.
-Happy 45th birthday to former Penguins goaltender Rob Dopson. A free agent signing in the 1991 offseason, Dopson's entire NHL career amounted to two games in 1993-94. He had no record, a 4.00 goals against average and .870 save percentage. He was released in the 1994 offseason.
