-Happy 57th birthday to former Penguins defenseman Kevin McCarthy (right). An all-star with the Canucks, McCarthy came to Pittsburgh midway through the 1983-84 season in a trade which sent a draft pick to Vancouver. McCarthy appeared in 31 games for the Penguins that season and scored 20 points. In 1984-85, McCarthy played in 64 games and recorded 19 points. During the 1985 offseason, he joined the Flyers as a free agent. In 95 games with the Penguins, he recorded 39 points. He is currently an assistant coach with the Predators.
