Penguins

-Whoever takes over as the Penguins' general manager, they'll inherit a difficult situation with the team's salary cap.

-Happy 41st birthday to former Penguins forward Andreas Johansson (right). Acquired early in the 1996-97 season along with Darius Kasparaitis in a deal which sent Bryan Smolinski to the Islanders, Johansson spent parts of two seasons with the Penguins. In 27 games that season, Johansson recorded nine points. In 1997-98, Johansson appeared in 50 games and recorded 15 points. The 1998 offseason saw him sign as a free agent with the Senators.

-Happy 53rd birthday to former Penguins forward Wayne Van Dorp. Acquired early in the 1987-88 season along with Paul Coffey and Dave Hunter in exchange for for Craig Simpson, Dave Hannan, Moe Mantha and Chris Joseph, Van Dorp's Penguins career amounted to 25 games and four points with the club that campaign. In the 1988 offseason, he was traded to the Sabres for future considerations.

-After the Jump: The Blackhawks take Game 1 from the Kings, Alex Ovechkin is injured and R.J. Umberger wants a trade.

Playoff Stuff
Canadiens - Rangers

-The status of Canadiens goaltender Carey Price for tonight's Game 2 is up in the air after he appeared to be dealing with a right leg injury suffered when he was hit by Rangers forward Chris Kreider in Saturday's Game 1.

-“He didn’t run him, but he didn’t do anything to turn his body. We call it accidentally on purpose. He knows how to fall." - Canadiens forward Brandon Prust on Kreider.

-"Today was a very emotional, very moving time for our team. Marty took the podium and shared some incredible moments; it was a very deep message; it was a challenging day for us." - Rangers coach Alain Vigneault on the team attending the funeral of forward Martin St. Louis' mother.

Blackhawks - Kings

-Gibsonia native Brandon Saad had a goal and assist for the Blackhawks who defeated the Kings, 3-1, in Game 1 of the Western Conference final. Former Penguin Marian Hossa recorded two assists for Chicago while teammate Corey Crawford made 25 saves. Fire Ray Shero.

-Lightning goaltending prospect Andrei Vasilevski made 27 saves for Russia in a 3-0 shutout of Germany.

-Lightning forward Tyler Johnson had two goals for the United States in a 3-1 win against Finland.

-An overtime goal by Predators defenseman Ryan Ellis gave Canad a 3-2 win against Sweden.

-Former Panthers goaltender Alexander Salak made 21 saves for the Czech Republic in a 1-0 shutout of Norway.
