Metropolitan Ice Cream Metropolitan Division

-Ryan Clowe, Eric Gelinas, Adam Henrique, former Penguins captain Jaromir Jagr and Marek Zidlicky each had a goal and an assist for the Devils who routed the rival Islanders, 6-1. Patrik Elias recorded two assists for New Jersey while teammate Martin Brodeur made all of 18 saves.

-Jagr's goal was the 700th of his career:

-Fire Craig Patrick.

-Jagr joked that he wants to hit 800 goals.

-Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic was automatically suspended one game for instigating a fight in the final five minutes of regulation. Additionally, head coach Jack Capuano was given an automatic $10,000 fine.

-The Islanders recalled goaltender Anders Nilsson from Bridgeport of the AHL and assigned goaltender Kevin Poulin to Bridgeport.

-Two goals by captain Alex Ovechkin led the Capitals to a 4-2 win against the Bruins. Joel Ward netted a goal and an assist for Washington while teammate Braden Holtby made 36 saves.

-A goal and an assist by David Savard led the Blue Jackets to a 6-3 win against the Panthers. Jack Johnson recorded three assists while teammate Sergei Bobrovsky made all of 17 saves. Nick Bjugstad and Shawn Matthias each netted a goal and an assist for Florida.

-Max Pacioretty had two goals, including one in overtime, and gave the Canadiens a 4-3 win against the rival Maple Leafs. Andrei Markov recorded three assists for Montreal while teammate P.K. Subban added a goal and an assist. Peter Budaj made 22 saves in the victory. James van Riemsdyk scored two goals for Toronto.

-Two goals by captain Martin St. Louis led the Lightning past the Stars, 4-2. Victor Hedman, Alex Killorn and Andrej Palat each recorded two assists for Tampa Bay while teammate Ben Bishop made 39 saves. Vernon Fiddler and Antoine Roussel each netted a goal and an assist for Dallas.

-A day after trading away franchise goaltender Ryan Miller and captain/forward Steve Ott, the Sabres saw president of hockey operations Pat LaFontaine resign after only four months on the job.

Central Division

-Ondrej Pavelec made 39 saves for the Jets who defeated the Predators, 3-1. Winnipeg has a two-game winning streak.

-Minnesota assigned former Penguins goaltender John Curry and defenseman Steven Kampfer to Iowa of the AHL.

-The Wild signed undrafted free agent forward Brady Brassart to a three-year entry-level.

-Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson will return to the lineup tonight against the Lightning after serving a one-game suspension for slashing.

-Stars defenseman Brenden Dillon missed last night's game against the Lightning due to a "lower-body" injury.

Pacific Division

-Justin Williams had a goal and an assist for the Kings in a 3-1 defeat of the Hurricanes. Jonathan Quick made 24 saves for Los Angeles.

-Two goals by Sean Monahan, including one in overtime, gave the Flames a 2-1 win against the rival Oilers. Reto Berra made 21 saves for Calgary.

-Calgary's Kevin Westgarth, the son-in-law of former Steelers coach Bill Cowher, was injured in a fight with Edmonton's Luke Gadzic:

-The Ducks signed forward Tim Jackman to a one-year contract extension worth a total of $637,500. He is currently on the last year of a contract with a salary cap hit of $612,500. In 30 games this season, Jackman, 32, has three points and 89 penalty minutes.

-EN Says: Jackman is a ready, willing and able fighter with a moderate amount of skill. This is a fair contract.

Smythe Division

-Two goals by Michael Curtis led the Erie Otters past the Saginaw Spirit, 4-2.

-Daniel O'Donoghue had two goals for the Mercyhurst men's team in a 5-2 defeat of Robert Morris.

-PJ Musico made 35 saves for the Penn State men's team in a 2-1 loss to Minnesota.

-Nicole Paniccia made 39 saves for the Penn State wome's team which lost to RIT, 3-0.

-Matthew Meier had two goals and an assist for the Johnstown Tomahawks in a 9-4 loss to the Michigan Warriors.
