-Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers made 18 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-3 road shootout loss to the Binghamton Senators. Brian Gibbons recorded two assists for the Penguins.

-Highlights:

-Happy 62nd birthday to former Penguins forward Joe Noris. A third-round pick in 1971, Noris' Penguins career amounted to 35 games and seven points in 1971-72. Midway through 1972-73, he was traded to the Blues in exchange for Jim Shires.

Neapolitan Ice Cream Metropolitan Division

-Brandon Dubinsky and Nick Foligno each had a goal and an assist for the Blue Jackets in a 5-2 win against the Maple Leafs. Fedor Tyutin recorded two assists for Toronto while teammate Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves.

-Toronto's Nazem Kadri got the drop here on Columbu's Dalton Prout:

-Columbus' David Savard put Toronto's David Clarkson into the wall here

-The Hurricanes activated defenseman Tim Gleason (concussion) from injured reserve, placed defenseman Brett Bellemore ("lower body") and goaltender Cam Ward ("lower body") on injured reserve and recalled goaltender Mike Murphy from Charlotte of the AHL.

-After missing four games due to a rib injury, Flyers forward Scott Hartnell is expected to return to the lineup tonight against the Islanders.

-The Flyers assigned forward Tye McGinn to Adirondack of the AHL.

Atlantic Division

-Jhonas Enroth made 44 saves for the Sabres in a 3-1 win against the Panthers.

-After Sabres rookie defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen scored his first career goal, Sabres forward Cody McCormick tried to retrieve the puck. Panthers defenseman Erik Gudbranson objected and the two dropped gloves:

-Buffalo's Nikita Zadorov put Florida's Tomas Kopecky into the wall here:

-Things didn't seem too festive on the bench for Kopecky:

-Panthers forward Sean Bergenheim returned to the lineup after being sidelined 18 months due to groin and hip injuries.

-Sabres forward John Scott will have an in-person disciplinary hearing with the NHL Thursday in regards to his hit to the head of Bruins forward Loui Eriksson Wednesday.

-The Sabres activated forward Cody McCormick (knee) from injured reserve and assigned forward Kevin Porter to Rochester of the AHL.

-Maple Leafs forward David Clarkson played his first game of the season tonight after serving a 10-game suspension for leaving the bench during a fight in the preseason.

-With forward Joffrey Lupul nursing a foot injury, the Maple Leafs recalled forward Carter Ashton from Toronto of the AHL assigned forward Josh Leivo to Toronto.

-Canadiens forward George Parros, a native of Washington, Pa., and defenseman Douglas Murray, a former Penguin, resumed practicing after recovering from injuries.

Central Division

-Matt Duchene had two goals and an assist for the Avalanche in a 4-2 win against the Hurricanes. Alex Tanguay added a goal and an assist for Colorado while teammate Semyon Varlamov made 28 saves.

I might have to change a couple things.” - Stars forward Ryan Garbutt on being suspended five games for a hit to the head of Ducks forward Dustin Penner Sunday.

-The Stars assigned forward Scott Glennie and defenseman Aaron Rome to Dallas of the AHL.

-The Blackhawks placed defenseman Michael Kostka on injured reserve and recalled forwards Brad Mills and Jeremy Morin from Rockford of the AHL.

-With goaltender Josh Harding day to day due to a "lower-body" injury, the Wild recalled goaltender Johan Gustafsson from Iowa of the AHL.

Pacific Division

-Two goals by Ryan Kesler, including one in overtime, gave the Canucks a 3-2 win against the Blues. Mike Santorelli recorded two assists for Vancouver while teammate Eddie Lack made 22 saves.

-Captain Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and an assist for the Ducks in a 2-1 win against the Senators. Corey Perry recorded two assists for Anaheim while teammate Frederik Andersen made 26 saves.

-After the game, the Ducks announced a two-year contract extension with Andersen worth a total $2.3 million. In the final year of an entry-level contract with a salary cap hit of $925,000, Andersen's new contract will have a cap hit $1.15 million. Andersen, 24, has appeared in two games this season and has a 2-0-0 record, a 0.60 goals against average and .980 save percentage.

-EN Says: With Andersen, Jonas Hiller, Viktor Fasth and John Gibson, the Ducks are pretty stacked at the goaltending position. It's hard to imagine them keeping this group instead of moving one of them to address other needs.

-The Coyotes recalled forward Tim Kennedy from Portland of the AHL.

-The Oilers assigned former Penguins defenseman Corey Potter to Oklahoma City of the AHL on a conditioning assignment.

Smythe Division

-Michael Curtis scored two goals for the Erie Otters (right) in a 5-1 win against the London Knights.

-Terry Shafer made 20 saves for the Robert Morris men's team in a 5-2 loss to Ohio State.

-Matthew Skoff made 22 saves for the Penn State men's team which tied RIT, 3-3.

-Jimmy Sarjeant made 34 saves for the Mercyhurst men's team which was edged by Alaska, 5-4.

-Two goals by Maeve Garvey led the Robert Morris women's team to a 4-3 win against Vermont.

-Christine Bestland had a goal and an assist for the Mercyhurst women's team which beat Maine, 2-1.

-Alex Okicki made 20 saves for the Johnstown Tomahawks in a 2-0 shutout of the Soo Eagles.
