Penguins

-"I've got to play my game and hopefully impress the coaches enough to have them make a tough decision. Maybe I can come in and take someone's job and start mine." - Penguins defensive prospect Derrick Pouliot on his hopes of landing an NHL job out of training camp in September.

-Former Penguins/Thrashers/Maple Leafs/Canadiens forward Colby Armstrong (right) has joined Växjö Lakers of Sweden's SHL. Armstrong, 30, was the Penguins' first round pick in 2001. Along with Erik Christensen, Angelo Esposito and a first round pick in 2008, he was dealt by the Penguins to the Thrashers in exchange for Pascal Dupuis and Marian Hossa.

-Happy 44th birthday to former Penguins goaltender Garth Snow. A free agent signing just prior to the 2000-01 season, Snow's Penguins career amounted to 35 games hat season in which he went 14-15-4 with a 2.98 goals against average, .900 save percentage and three shutouts. Easily the highlight of his season was a 40-save effort in a 5-0 shutout of the Maple Leafs. Snow probably would've been the first star of the game had it not been for some guy making his season debut that night. In the 2001 offseason, Snow was signed by the Islanders. He is currently the Islanders' general manager.

Central Division

-"It's hard to the point where there's so much social media and so much cameras and people who want to take pictures where anything you do is going to be under the microscope and people are going to record it. Something even minor I do is going to be reported because of things that have happened in the past. You have to be aware of that." - Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane on being more conscious of his notorious off-ice life.

Norris Division

-Former Sharks/Hurricanes/Canucks defenseman Derek Joslin has joined AIK of Sweden's SHL.
