-The Blues re-signed restricted free agent goaltender Jake Allen (right) to a two-year contract two a two-year contract worth $1.6 million. Coming off an entry-level contract with a salary cap hit of $816,666, Allen's new contract will have a cap hit of $800,000. Allen, 22, appeared in 15 games last season and had a 9-4-0 record a 2.46 goals against average, a .905 save percentage and one shutout.
-EN Says: Allen emerged on the scene last season when incumbent goaltenders Brian Elliott and Jaroslav Halak each struggled last season. With Allen back in the fold, it seems more and more likely that the Blues could move Elliott or Halak via trade.
