Deregulation

Written by Rob Rogers on .

The explosion at the fertilizer plant in West, Texas was tragic, but avoidable. Rick Perry has been bragging about how business-friendly (i.e., no regulations) his state is, even trying to lure companies away from other states to relocate to Texas. The fertilizer plant had not been inspected since 2006.

No Lockdown

Written by Rob Rogers on .

One of the tragic aspects of the bombing in Boston was the lopsided response by police and the media compared to other crimes. Where are the SWAT teams when violence occurs in African American neighborhoods every day? Where is the wall-to-wall media coverage when children are gunned down in those urban areas? We have become calloused to those kind of killings.

Sequester Delay

Written by Rob Rogers on .

This crazy game of chicken with the sequester is starting to have real consequences. The FAA is furloughing air traffic controllers, causing delays nationwide. This is just insane.

Godless Terrorist

There is no excuse for terrorism against America. None. But there is also no excuse for some of the things the USA has perpetrated around the globe, sometimes in the name of freedom. It surprises me when someone seems shocked that anyone would have reason not to like us.

Pat Toomey

Written by Rob Rogers on .

The NRA has a sickening hold over the House and Senate. Despite the heroic effort by Pat Toomey and Joe Manchin to push through a compromise on background checks, the Senate voted it down. Now the Right is going after Toomey.
