Nuclear Option

The "nuclear option" in the Senate is an extreme measure that amounts to taking away the filibuster. This is a last resort for a Senate Majority Leader who is facing an intransigent minority party. If you need an example of just how intransigent the senate GOP has been, count the filibusters. In U.S. history there have been 168 filibusters of presidential nominees, 82 filibusters under Obama and 86 filibusters under all other presidents combined. The GOP brought this on themselves.
