Mayor Bloomberg of New York tried to ban jumbo-sized soft drinks because they are bad for you. He clearly doesn't realize that true freedom means eating whatever unhealthy junk you want to eat. Unfortunately for Bloomberg, the New York Supreme Court blocked the ban saying the city health board doesn't have the authority. This is probably the right ruling. Look, I am all for healthy eating, but I think a tax on sodas or warning labels (like alcohol or tobacco) would be a better strategy than an arbitrary cup-size ban.
