The Friends of the Montour Trail in Peters will host a Twilight Trail Walk along Arrowhead Trail from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, July 26. The event will start at two spots: Farmhouse Coffee/My Big Fat Greek Gyro, 502 Valley Brook Road, and St. Petersburg Center, 210 Valley Brook Road.
For a $7 donation, participants can walk along the luminaria-lit trail. Participants will also receive a glow necklace and entry in a raffle for prizes from local businesses. Participants are encouraged to bring a chair and stay for refreshments and music. Children under 5 and pets are free.
Registration will be at the event only. Proceeds will benefit maintenance and expansion of the Montour Trail in Peters. For more information, see the events section at www.montourtrail.org.
The ramp from northbound South Braddock Avenue to the inbound Parkway East will be closed overnight starting at 9 p.m. today and on Mondays through Saturdays through July 15. It reopens by 5 a.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, by 10 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The ramp from southbound South Braddock Avenue to the inbound parkway will remain open.
New restrictions will be in place on Tuesday at the construction site along Brownsville Road, Broughton Road and Curry Hollow Road in Baldwin Borough. Starting at 7 a.m., paving will occur at the intersections of Sixth Street and Brownsville and Curry Hollow and Brownsville. Flaggers and police will control traffic, with stoppages possible through 7 p.m.
Lane closures are possible on the Fort Pitt and Fort Duquesne bridges on weeknights starting today and continuing through July 19 during replacement of pavement markers. The work will occur on the outbound upper deck of the Fort Duquesne Bridge and the inbound upper deck of the Fort Pitt Bridge starting at 9 a.m. Work concludes by 5 a.m. daily.
Also, we'll see some overnight lane closures in the Fort Pitt Tunnels starting at 10 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the inbound tunnel and 10 p.m. Thursday outbound. Work wraps by 5 a.m. daily.
Replacement of traffic signals and reconstruction of sidewalks may cause lane closures at these intersections in Mt. Lebanon from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through early December: Cochran Road and Osage Road; Beverly Road and Overlook Drive; Beverly Road and Ralston Place; and Beverly Road and North Meadowcroft Avenue.
Paving will limit traffic to one lane in both directions on a 3-mile stretch of Interstate 80 near Grove City/Sandy Lake in Mercer County this week.
