Gasoline prices have fallen 10 straight weeks

AAA reports that gasoline prices have dropped for the 10th consecutive week, with the Western Pennsylvania average now at $3.49 per gallon. At this time last year, the average was at $3.78, a 29-cent difference. The cheapest gas in these here parts is in Erie, where the average gallon goes for $3.31.

Port Authority will detour inbound Red Line T service on Sunday during track work in Beechview. Inbound Red Line service will operate per normal from South Hills Village to Overbrook Junction, where it will switch to the Blue Line route. Rail shuttles will operate from Overbrook Junction to Potomac, and bus shuttles will serve stops from Potomac to Station Square. Outbound service will operate on the regular route. No Saturday detours.

workzoneIn confirming the planned closure of the outbound Squirrel Hill Tunnel this weekend and next (from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday), PennDOT also put out tentative dates for two weekend closures of the inbound tunnel: May 31 and June 7.

Inspection on the 40th Street Bridge will cause periodic right-lane closures in either direction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Monday and May 30 and 31.

The outbound left lane of Route 28 at the bridge over Powers Run Road in O’Hara is scheduled to close from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday while crews get core samples of the bridge deck.

Washing will close a lane of the southbound Portal Bridge going from the Fort Duquesne Bridge to the Fort Pitt Bridge in Downtown Pittsburgh at 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the restriction lifted by 6 a.m. the next days.

Overhead sign inspections on the Parkway North and the HOV lanes will cause lane closures at various places, including the McKnight Road ramps, until 3 p.m. today.

The westbound right lane of Interstate 376 near Hopewell in Beaver County will be closed until 3 p.m. today during excavation of soil that was contaminated by diesel fuel last week.

The Interstate 70 bridge over the Monongahela River will have single-lane traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting Monday and continuing for about two weeks during what PennDOT calls an in-depth inspection.

Pavement reflectors are being installed on Beaver County roads from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today through Friday. Areas to watch for slow-moving trucks are Route 18-Brodhead Road in Center and Monaca; Route 18-Big Beaver Boulevard; and Interstate 376 between Allegheny and Lawrence counties.
 
Saline Street will have lane closures at the overhead Parkway East bridge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday as the bridge undergoes inspection. No impact on parkway traffic.

Eastbound Interstate 80 is restricted to single-lane traffic near Franklin/Oil City/Barkeyville, Route 8 (Exit 29) in Venango County due to bridge work. The restriction is expected to continue through 5 p.m. Thursday.
