Be on lookout for orange barrels this week

2:45 p.m. UPDATE: East Ninth Avenue in Tarentum will be closed for reconstruction between Route 366 and Butler Street from 9 a.m. Thursday until Sept. 13, PennDOT announced today.

2 p.m. UPDATE: A reminder today from PennDOT that the ramp from northbound Route 28 to Route 366 (Exit 14 at Bull Creek Road) in Tarentum will be closed, weather permitting, at 10 a.m. Tuesday through mid-September for pavement replacement. A detour will be posted.

More overnight closures are scheduled on the westbound Parkway East at the bathtub section in Downtown Pittsburgh. Westbound traffic will be detoured at Grant Street starting at 9 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, with reopening by 5 a.m. daily. The Grant Street on-ramp to the westbound parkway also closes during those times.

The Portal Bridge between the Fort Duquesne and Fort Pitt bridges will have two nights of restrictions during line painting. At 10 p.m. Monday, traffic from the Fort Duquesne Bridge will be restricted to one lane on the Portal Bridge; the Fort Pitt Bridge ramp to the 10th Street bypass will be single-lane; the ramp from the 10th Street Bypass and Fort Duquesne Boulevard will be closed. At 10 p.m. Tuesday, traffic on the northbound Portal Bridge (from the Fort Pitt Bridge to the Fort Duquesne Bridge) will be restricted to a single lane, as will inbound traffic on the Fort Duquesne Bridge approaching the Portal Bridge; the ramps from westbound Parkway East, Commonwealth Place and Fort Pitt Boulevard to the outbound (northbound) Fort Duquesne Bridge will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to West Carson Street and the West End Bridge.

The inbound Bigelow Boulevard bridge that goes over Interstate 579-Crosstown Boulevard to Seventh Avenue will have a left-lane closure through Saturday morning for expansion dam replacement.

Inbound Route 28 traffic will be restricted to one lane starting at 8 p.m. weekdays through Sept. 7, except for Labor Day, between the 40th Street Bridge and East Ohio Street. Brief traffic stoppages are possible in both directions. Work concludes by 5 a.m. daily.

Inspection of the Parkway West bridge over Montour Run-Cliff Mine Road at Exit 58 in Moon and North Fayette will cause right-lane closures from 9 a.m. to noon outbound and noon to 3 p.m. inbound. Restrictions may also occur on Cliff Mine Road under the parkway.

Deck repairs will cause lane closures on Interstate 79 in the area of the bridges over Red Mud Hollow Road between Exits 68 and 72 in Franklin Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

Inspection of the bridge that carries the Parkway East over Old William Penn Highway and Sunset Drive east of Penn Hills (Exit 81) will cause right-lane closures from 9 a.m. to noon outbound and noon to 3 p.m. inbound.

Fort Pitt Tunnels cleaning will close an inbound lane at 10 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and and outbound lane Wednesday and Thursday, with work concluding by 5 a.m. daily. The Wednesday and Thursday start time will be two hours after stadium events end.

Traffic camera maintenance will close an outbound lane of the Liberty Bridge from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Repair work will close lanes on Boyds Run Road-Walkers Mill Road from Noblestown Road to Presto Sygan Road and on Robinson Run Road from Noblestown Road to Battle Ridge Road in South Fayette from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Friday.
