Fourth-generation connection for Billy Graham

Written by Peter Smith on .

My story Saturday told of the continued impact on one family of Billy Graham's 1949 revival meetings in Altoona, Pa.

John and Beatrice Love, whose new marriage was beleaguered with John's struggles with post-traumatic stress following World War II, went forward at Rev. Graham's invitation to accept Jesus. What followed were generations of outreach to at-risk children, inmates, ex-cons and others.

Last week, their granddaughter and two great-grandsons, now living in North Carolina, paid their last respects to him in Charlotte.

Pictured are his granddaughter, Elle Westover, second from right, with her sonss Conner, left, and Caden.

With them is Giovanna Albanese, an editor at Decision magazine. Ms. Albanese had edited a recent Decision magazine article by Ms. Westover's mother, Joan Mack, on her family's story. Somehow, in all the crowds, they found each other.
