Welcome to Trendsburgh! Every Monday-Friday at 4:30 p.m., we'll give you a quick recap of what was trending on Twitter and/or Facebook here in the 'Burgh throughout the day.

This week: May 16-20

Yea, they're not in season and the Penguins and Pirates are both playing tonight, but the Steelers still managed to make headlines today.

Among them:

- A couple of Steelers rookies brought smiles to kids at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, as pictured above.

- The team signed Sean Davis to a four-year contract.

- There was *this*

Yup, those are some Steelers players chasing a robot tackling dummy. What's going on?

- Oh yea, there was also this, which is what caused the Steelers to start trending in the first place:

Get your bets in.

Click on the hashtag and you'll find a zoo of tweets about the Penguins, Shawn Michaels and Primanti's. Luckily, we break it down for you all here

Also trending because of this song

White House

The house was put on lock down after shots were reported nearby.

Ben's Cat

You know Nyquist, but do you know Ben's Cat?

Resiliency: The 10-year-old horse has won four of the past five years, including three straight.

Maroon 5

The Grammy-winning band announced they would be cancelling their shows scheduled in North Carolina due to the state's controversial bathroom law.

Viral video(s) making the rounds:

I really didn't understand why *this* video was making the rounds — two minutes into it, I was about ready to give up. And then it was worth it.

(Steve Mellon/Post-Gazette)

It's exactly what it sounds like: Puppies being Ubered across Pittsburgh. We even had one in the office!

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., people were able to use their Uber apps to order puppies that would come to their place of work for a 15-minute visit. The cost was $30 and benefited canines, felines and rabbits at the North Side shelter. Most importantly, after 3:30 p.m., Gabby — in the video above — and the other puppies on the Uber circuit will be available for adoption at the shelter, 1101 Western Avenue, 15233. We weren't the only ones getting in on the Uber puppies:

Phil Kessel

(Peter Diana/Post-Gazette)

The Penguins winger has 16 points in the postseason, including this goal from last night.

Play aside, he also was trending throughout the day because of this:

With the way he's been playing, it's hard to believe he's never made it this far into the playoffs before. As Paul Zeise writes, acquiring him is greatly paying off for the Penguins.

Among other Penguins-related things trending: Game 3, Crosby, Murray and #HBK.

We were intrigued with the #HBK hashtag, so one of our Sports interns looked into it:

(Michael Henninger/Post-Gazette)

Did yinz get a chance to check out the throwback uniforms?

Craig Meyer has the full details of the event. Some additional shots:

On a different-but-somewhat-related note, Penn State was trending after a game time was set for the teams' Sept. 10 match.

Morley Safer

“There is no such thing as the common man; if there were, there would be no need for journalists.” — Morley Safer

The veteran "60 Minutes" newsman died today at age 84.

A lot of breaking news and theories throughout the day about how the flight carrying 66 passengers fell into the Mediterranean Sea. Good chance we'll have reliable updates in tomorrow's blog.

Malcolm X

Today would have been his 91st birthday.

Viral video(s) making the rounds:

Ah, politics.

Pitt fans all over have been buzzing about tonight — and not because of the Penguins game. As our Pitt football beat writer tweeted:

Excitement everywhere:

Dr. Anthony Hamlet

From Post-Gazette reporter Molly Born: An administrator in the Palm Beach County, Fla., school district has been chosen as the new top leader of the Pittsburgh Public Schools. A formal vote is set to take place tonight.

Happy Haitian Flag Day!

Robin Wright

"You better pay me or I'm going to go public." The actress channeled her character from "House of Cards" to get equal pay.

Game 3

The Tampa Bay Lightning will have Ryan Callahan back as they look to take a 2-1 series lead in the Eastern Conference final. As Post-Gazette columnist Gene Collier writes though, anything goes in this series as evident from the first two games.

Viral video(s) making the rounds:

Also: Jordan Spieth — making golf fun again.

For a better angle:

You do you, Jordan. Maybe he'll show those skills off when he's in town this summer.

(Matt Freed/Post-Gazette)

Impressively trending since Monday night — and for a good reason.

Among other Penguins-related things trending: Game 2, #PITvsTBL and this little Matt Murray conspiracy:

Internet gold:

Murray's response?

He further added:

  • “As a goalie, with your equipment, you have like a sixth sense. ...You’d be able to tell if it went through.”

Not everyone is buying it, though:

But really, there's a blog post about the conspiracy. To which some of yinz say

From what we gathered, "Ghostbusters" started trending because of this:

Opening a whole can of worms — again — on the whole all-female cast

But I think this one speaks for all:

(Nate Guidry/Post-Gazette)

We'll be seeing this guy in a Pirates uniform for a while

From his own account:

Despite what the hashtag looks like, this does not have anything to do with Idaho. Rather, it stands for International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia.

And a message from arguably the most popular prime minister in the world right now:

Coming to the big screen!

Melania Trump

A message from the potential first lady:

Can the Penguins even the series against the Lightning tonight?

Among the Penguins-related things making the rounds: Our story on how the Tampa Bay Lightning has barred fans from wearing visiting team gear in select areas of Amalie Arena during the 2015-16 playoffs, including seats in the first two rows and other high-priced sections.

Pittsburgh's reaction thus far:

Sinead O'Connor

The Irish singer was trending all day after being reported missing around Chicago. She was later found safe.

Harley Quinn

"Suicide Squad" hasn't even hit theaters, yet there's rumors a spin off movie featuring the character Harley Quinn is in the works.

Your move now, Marvel:

The hashtag was trending originally because of high school baseball playoffs but really took off because of this:

Congrats indeed to Tyler.

Why was Twitter trending on, well, Twitter? Here yinz go:
