I have long wondered why there isn’t a permanent marina along the Allegheny and Ohio rivers on the North Bank. (It is not a shore.) Boats tie up there for big events, and the event that draws this crowd of boats every year -- Kenny Chesney's annual Concert for Banglatrash-- may outpace the crowd that shows up for Ameica's 237th birthday bash.
Pittsburgh is a power boat kind of place, but today I saw a sailboat tied up behind PNC Park among the many noisier boats. Maybe as we continue to evolve as a most liveable city we will become more appreciative of quiet, graceful water craft.
But we are what we are and we are under a beautiful spell of weather. Opening day of summer couldn’t be more perfect.
