Welcome to GAP Trip!

Written by Mila Sanina on .

Welcome aboard, dear reader!

We are presenting to you our week-long blog, or, more precisely, our traveblog dedicated to a celebratory cycling trip along the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) from Washington, DC, to Pittsburgh.

A team of cyclists, that call themselves Point Made!, start the trip on Saturday, June 8th, and will end it with a celebratory ride down the final stretch of the trail starting at Sandcastle on June 15th. You can find details about their day-by-day plans on their website.

The trip's ultimate goal is to celebrate the much-awaited completion of the Great Allegheny Passage by riding it.

Our team at the Post-Gazette is working with participants of the trip to provide you with daily updates on adventures and explorations along the GAP in tweets, blog updates, instagrams and more. There will be interviews and posts from guest bloggers, there will be anecdotes and tips. We'd like to give you a feel of what it's like, so that one day you too take on the challenge.

So, here we go, with our fellow travelers… we are roughing it along the Great Allegheny Passage…

The Point Made! folks will pedal and on behalf of the blog, we are inviting you to follow along.
