NEW YORK -- When people think of fashion shows, sometimes there's an image of hierarchical seating charts and only a few seconds to soak up designs as the models whisk by wearing them. Meanwhile, the designer waits behind the scenes just to emerge for a few seconds at the end of the show.
At Rachel Zoe's unveiling of her Fall 2015 collection on Tuesday, guests were invited into a bright, intimate space to sip drinks, munch on macaroons and browse her '60s-inspired collection as the designer worked the room and her pint-sized son, Skyler, danced about delighting onlookers.
"This season I decided to move away from bohemia," the designer said in the collection notes. "The collection is a contemporary take on mod fashion."
She pulled influences from such fashion icons of the era as Twiggy and Penelope Tree. The results: black-and-white pieces, fur and feather details, metallic silver evening wear and a tailored suit wallpapered in leopard print, to name a few. It all had a definite mod-British feel, while still feeling modern and fresh.
