On Day 2 of Style Week Pittsburgh, the specialty kitchen and bath store Luxe in East Liberty was transformed into three floors of fashion fun for the public to browse for free. The night's accessories trunk show was co-presented by the Fashion Group International Pittsburgh provisional chapter.
Before stepping inside, guests were greeted by Pittsburgh mobile boutiques the Style Truck and Vintage Valet. Inside the Luxe Indigo Square showroom, resident chef Anthony cooked up small bites and vendors showed off a range of unique accessories. Meanwhile, models roamed the room showing off designs by Kiya Tomlin and handbags from Sandra Cadavid. Male models posed in a shower display sporting briefs and boxers from Trim Pittsburgh, the men's underwear boutique in East Liberty. Neighboring Chemistry boutique had a selection of its scarves and women's wear on site for a significant discount for shoppers.
A couple doors down Ms. Tomlin welcomed people into her studio for miniature sweet treats and cheese and crackers, consultations and a chance to shop her ready-to-wear line of sweatshirt dresses, pants, colorful print tops and more.
The energy was upbeat and the stream of people inside Luxe was steady for much of the three-hour event. Although a seemingly unusual choice for a fashion event, Luxe turned out to be a refreshing choice. Having three levels within the store helped spread the displays -- and the crowd -- out and added a nice flow to the event. And the colorful displays of tile samples that dotted the walls made for great backdrops for snapping photos!
