blog baby toadsIt's good luck to find a toad in the garden, for lots of reasons. Photo by Doug Oster

I always worry when my daughter yells from outside, "Dad, come out here quick."

I was relieved to see this baby toad she had found on the back patio. It was almost black in color.

In the last few years we've seen an increase in our garden of toads with is a good thing.

Toads eat slugs and all sorts of other pests.

My daughter wanted to put the toad right in the vegetable garden, but I insisted on a photo shoot. The little guy was hpping and squirming everywhere, but I got a couple pictures in focus.

Now he lives in the vegetable garden where we hope he grows big feasting on slugs an other things.

Thank heaven...for little toads.
