Before we get to the news on the Big 33 team, a football recruiting note:

Pitt now has three recruits from Clairton High School.

Clairton receiver-defensive back Terrish Webb announced on Twitter today that he made a verbal commitment to Pitt this weekend. Teammates Tyler Boyd and Titus Howard already had decided on Pitt.

Big 33 team

Ten players from the WPIAL have been selected to play for the Pennsylvania team in the Big 33 Football Classic all-star game in June. But two of the WPIAL's best players turned down a chance to play in the game.

North Allegheny offensive lineman Pat Kugler and Central Valley receiver Robert Foster both declined invitations to play. Foster is a University of Alabama recruit and said he will leave for Alabama in June and didn't want to play. He also said Alabama wasn't keen on the idea of him playing.

Kugler also said he didn't want to play in the game and one of the reasons was because the Big 33 didn't pick his brother, Rob, to play a few years ago. Rob Kugler now plays at Purdue.

Kugler must have been set in his ways about not playing because Pennsylvania's Big 33 coach is Art Walker. Also, North Allegheny quarterback Mack Leftwich was selected to the team. Foster's coach, Central Valley's Mark Lyons, will be a Pennsylvania assistant.

Two Clairton players - receiver Tyler Boyd and defensive back Titus Howard - are on the team as well as two Seneca Valley players - running back Forrest Barnes and offensive lineman Dean Ketterer.

Other WPIAL players selected were Woodland Hills linebacker Alex Beasley, Gateway defensive back Todd Jeter, Belle Vernon offensive lineman Dorian Johnson, Washington linebacker Jaylin Kelly, and West Mifflin defensive end Marcus Martin.

Besides Walker and Lyons, Baldwin's Jim Wehner also will be an assistant coach.
