Geno Thorpe will play basketball in the WPIAL this season after all.
Thorpe has left West Oaks Academy in Orlando, Fla., and is back at his home in Shaler. He will attend Shaler Area High School and will play for the Titans this season.
Thorpe is a Penn State recruit who was a Post-Gazette Fabulous 5 selection last season as a junior at Shaler. But he decided to leave Shaler for his senior year and attend West Oaks so that he could live with his father, Gene, who lives in the Orlando area. Thorpe had lived with his mother in Shaler and attended Shaler schools through eighth grade. He attended Shady Side Academy as a freshman and then came back to Shaler for his sophomore and junior seasons.
Thorpe said in a texe message earlier today that he is not doing interviews on why he is back, but confirmed he will play for Shaler this season.
