STEVEN ADAMS AND NOTRE DAME PREP VS. MASSANUTTEN ACADEMY

FINAL SCORE: NOTRE DAME PREP 75, MASSANUTTEN ACADEMY 56

Steven Adams' final stats are below. I'll have more from him later tonight. Really a good-natured kid with a great sense of humor in interviews. If he is a player, this city will really like him.

3:18 p.m. - Looks like Steven Adams done for the day. Comes out with 2:36 let and Notre Dame Prep leading, 75-47. Adams finishes with 12 points, 14 rebounds, two steals, two assists and one block. Only took eight shots.

3:08 p.m. - Maybe 10 members of Oakland Zoo here and just got recognized.

End of the third quarter and Notre Dame Prep leads Massanutten, 65-36. Through three quarters, Steven Adams has 10 points, 11 rebounds and one block.

3:06 p.m. - I need to point out something. Yes, a lot of these Notre Dame Prep players are impressiv.e and team way ahead of most high school teams. But players come from a number of different states and nine of them are fifth-year players. But Steve Adams is a high school senior.

3:02 p.m. - What kind of shape is 'ol Steven in? Just asked coaches to get a break. 2:30 left in third. Notre Dame Prep leads, 61-33.

2:56 p.m. - Another dunk early in second half for Steven Adams. Now nine points.

2:45 p.m. - Really nice crowd here. I'd say between 1,500 and 1,700 - to see two teams from out of state.

2:44 p.m. - Dick Groat was just introduced to the crowd. Got a standing ovation from some of the crowd. Nice to see.

HALFTIME: NOTRE DAME PREP 45, MASSANUTTEN ACADEMY 26

Adams finishes half with seven points, seven rebounds, one steal and one assist.

2:36 p.m. - Adams doesn' ttouch the ball much on offense. Then again, it's hard to argue with Notre Dame Prep's offense. The team's gaurds. Can really shoot it. Six 3-pointers so far. Adams has seven points and seven rebounds so far - with two dunks.

2:27 p.m. - Facing a 1-3-1, Adams showed some passing ability. Just threw a no-look pass from the post to the corner.

2:25 p.m. - Steven Adams back in the game.

2:24 p.m. - End of first quarter. Notre Dame Prep 26, Massanutten Academy 11. Steven Adams sat the final few minutes. First quarter he had six points, three rebounds.

2:21 p.m. - Sam Cassell Jr. shoots shots like his father. Fadeways, etc. Makes them, too.

2:20 p.m. - May not see Adams really go at it today. Looks like NDame Prep might blow out this team.

2:19 p.m. - Pitt coach Jamie Dixon in the house.

Notre Dame Prep rolling. Leads, 22-6, with 1:41 left in first quarter. Notre Dame Prep guards are way above Massanutten's.

2:18 p.m. - Oops. Adams just missed a dunk. No matter. Next possession a follow dunk off a missed layup. Second dunk of game.

2:16 p.m. - Boy, Adams looks strong, but also has frame to put on more muscle. Sweet stroke from free-throw line, too. Now has four points. ND Prep leads, 11-4.

2:14 p.m. - HELLO, PITTSBURGH!!!!!! Steven Adams just introduced himself to the city. Followed up a missed layup by a teammate with an impressive one-handed tip dunk that brought a loud ovation.

2:13 p.m. - Notre Dame Prep also has guard Myles Davis, a Xavier recruit.

Duquesne coach Ron Everhart in the house, too. First row near midcourt.

2:10 p.m. - Adams being guarded Terry Brutus, a 6-6, 230-pounder

2:08 p.m. - Haven't seen him play, but Adams certainly passes the eyeball test.

Sam Cassell Jr. plays for Notre Dame Prep.

Steven Adams just got introduced and got a big ovation from crowd here. Nice to see.

1:23 p.m. - Check this out: Shaler coach Paul Holzshu the inventive one. Has a small drinking cup. Hollowed out the bottom. Puts it to his mouth to yell out instructions, like a small megaphone. Tremendous.
