Hold on. Forget that blog posting a short while ago. The St. Benedict's basketball team has pulled out of an event at Shaler Area tomorrow and will NOT play Central Catholic.
Paul Holzshu, Shaler coach and athletic director, received word this morning that St. Bendict's, a nationally-ranked team from Newark, N.J., will not participate in the Planet Athlete Pitt National Showcase at Shaler. He said organizers of the event did not give him a reason why St. Benedict's pulled out.
"We're still going to have a lot of quality basketball, though," Holzshu said.
True. Central Catholic will instead play Quality Education of Winston-Salem, N.C. (you gotta love that school name). Quality Education certainly isn't the level of St. Benedict's, but the team does feature Georgetown recruit Brandon Bolden, a 6-foot-10 senior.
The rest of the schedule remains the same. It is below. One other scheduling matter first. Many games are starting earlier than scheduled tonight because of the possibility of snow. That includes the North Allegheny at Shaler game - it will now start at 6:30.
