Rushel Shell out for tonight's game

Written by Mike White on .

I'll have a live blog tonight from the Post-Gazette game of the week - Chartiers Valley at Thomas Jefferson. Besides coverage of that game, I'll also have scores and notes from other games. If you have a score or note to post on the blog, send an e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Or send to Twitter @mwhiteburgh.

Hopewell star running back Rushel Shell will not play in tonight's game against New Castle.

Shell, the WPIAL's all-time leading rusher, said he sustained a slight concussion in last week's game against Blackhawk and it was questionable all week whether or not he would play. In a text message, Shell said a doctor and a trainer told him to "play it safe" so that he could be 100 percent for next week's game.

Hopewell plays Central Valley next week.
