These next two scores are not misprints:

Clairton 84, Avella 0

Gateway 85, Norwin 0

Seriously.

10:41 p.m. - Just heard Rushel Shell was held to 109 yards by Blackhawk tonight. Three years in a row Blackhawk has controlled him.

FINAL SCORE: NORTH ALLEGHENY 49, SENECA VALLEY 28

Chartiers Valley leads Belle Vernon, 29-10, in fourth quarter. Wayne Capers has 229 yards offense. I say Capers ends up at Pitt. Just a prediction.

9:48 p.m. - North Allegheny answers with a 52-yard touchdown drive. This one puts it away. Tigers lead, 49-28, but Seneca Valley shows something with some TDs in this quarter.

Blackhawk continues to lead Hopewell, 30-7, in the fourth quarter. Not surprised that Blackhawk is winning. But I am surprised at the margin, especially without its starting quarterback.

9:41 p.m. - Another report from Justin Panucci from Montour-New Castle. Could Montour lose again? Here is what Justin wrote:

A wild second half in New Castle... Jalen Holmes' 3 yard TD gave New Castle a 19-13 lead early in the third (XP blocked). On the ensuing Montour drive, the NC defense brought the house but Montour's Dillon Buechel recognized and connected on a 90 yard TD pass to Darren Massey (XP good) for the Spartans' 20-19 lead. Montour drove again on its next possession but Buechel was picked off at the NC 5 yard line by Juwann Cobb who returned it to the Montour 40. Mattarazzo drove NC down the field and completed the Red Hurricane drive with a 3 yard TD pass to Darrian Rice for the 25-20 lead early in the 4th quarter.

9:37 p.m. - Seneca Valley showing some toughness. Give them credit. Interception by Gabe Edwards puts Seneca in NA territory. Seneca drives for TD. David Hall scores it on a 2-yard run. PAT good. Now it's 42-28 with 7:05 left in game.

It was supposed to be Knoch's first test of the season against Hampton. But Knoch leads Hampton, 42-6.

9:31 p.m. - Seneca Valley scores. 57-yard TD screen pass from Jordan Brown to Forrest Barnes. NA second-team defense in. 41-21 now.

9:28 p.m. - I know NA coach Art Walker will say his team needs to practice it. But NA just attempted a field goal ahead 42-14.

9:27 p.m. - After three quarters, North Allegheny has outgained Seneca, 426-140.

9:26 p.m. - Upper St. Clair leads Baldwin, 42-0, after three.

9:25 p.m. - I guess we might have a showdown in a few weeks with Shaler and NA. Can't see NA losing a conference game, though.

9:22 p.m. - Seneca just turned it over. We're one TD away from mercy rule. Third quarter has just ended.

9:17 p.m. - NextTier Stadium is more like NexTear stadium. Another NA TD. Nick Passodelis 2-yard TD run.

But I can't say I'm surprised. I thought this had the potential to be easy NA victory. We made it our game of the week because there wasn't much else.

Now this is ridiculous: I'm getting reports that Clairton led Avella at haltime, 76-0. Seriously. How sad. That's 11 touchdowns.

More scores: Shaler 20, Butler 0 in the third

Woodland Hills 28, Altoona 0

McKeesport 20, Latrobe 0

Bethel Park 14, Peters Township 0

Washington looks for real in Class AA. Leading Keystone Oaks, 28-3, in the third.

Big Class A game. Fort Cherry and Brenwood were tied, 7-7, in the second.

From Sam Werner: Upper St. Clair has three TDs and Upper St. Clair is crushing Baldwin, 35-0.

9:03 p.m. - From B.J. Ekis, Gateway is crushing Norwin, 35-0. And check this out: Standout hooper Tyler Scott caught a 35-yard TD pass. He didn't play high school football until this year.

9:00 p.m. - North Allegheny marches for another score!! 82 yards this time. Nick Passodelis scores on 6-yard run. PAT good and it's now 35-14 with 9:52 left in the third.

Got an email: At the half, Rushel Shell has 73 yards on 17 carries.

More scores: Central Catholic 23, Penn Hills 0

At the half, North Catholic leading Monessen, 12-0

Chartiers Valley 15, Belle Vernon 10

How about this report sent in by Justin Panucci (and he's not a reporter)?: Montour and New Castle are tied 13-13 at the half. New Castle scored with 45 seconds remaining in the 1st half on John Matarazzo TD pass to Marcus Carter on 4th and goal. New Castle's Jalen Holmes leading the Red Hurricane rushing attack with 117 yards at the half. Julian Durden has scored two long TDs for the Spartans. Time of possession for the first half: New Castle 19:38 -- Montour 4:22.

Thanks, Justin. That's better than I can do.

8:33 p.m. - First-half stats from NA-Seneca Valley. North Allegheny has 15 first downs to 6 for Seneca Valley. North Allegheny 174 yards rushing on 32 attempts. Seneca Valley 63 on 11 attempts and 57 of those came on second play of game.

North Allegheny really dominating up front on the lines, but also getting good linebacker play. Vinnie Congedo has 62 yards rushing for NA, Alex DeCiantis 45 and Nick Passodelis 40. Mack Leftwich, NA QB, is 5 of 6 for 86 yards.

For Seneca, WPIAL leading passer Jordan Brown is 5 o 8 for 60 yards. Forrest Barnes seven attempts for 73 yards.

Blackhawk is pounding Hopewell despite not having starting QB Chandler Kincade (hurt early in the game according to reports). No word on how Rushel Shell is doing.

HALFTIME: North Allegheny 28, Seneca Valley 14

How about this one from Beaver County? Blackhawk is crushing Hopewell, 27-0. This from Tom Wamsley. Wow.

8:22 p.m. - OK. Seneca Valley shows some life. Drives for a TD. Jordan Brown hits Ryan Conn with 31-yard TD pass, after Brown scramble. PAT good. It's now NA 28-14 with 1:46 left in half.

Upper St. Clair leads Baldwin, 21-0, after first quarter.

Char Valley now leads Belle Vernon, 15-3

8:16 p.m. - Forget it. This one is over. North Allegheny just drove 80 yards in six plays for a score. 28-7 NA with 3:38 left in first half. Since TD on second play of game, Seneca has one first down - on a penalty.

Char Valley leads Belle Vernon, 7-3, after first. BVernon gets 42-yard field goal.

8:10 p.m. - Since that long TD run on second play of game, Seneca offense has done nothing. NA ball with 5:53 left in half. NA leads, 21-7.

8:04 p.m. - Blackhawk has jumped ahead of Rushel Shell and Hopewell, 13-0

7:58 p.m. - This is what I thought might happen. Seneca can't stop North Allegheny. NA scores again, driving 45 yards. Mack Leftwich scores on QB sneak. Kick good and it's 21-7 with 11:01 left in half.

7:55 p.m. - From colleague Chris Adamski: Wayne Capers 47-yard TD run and Chartiers Valley leads Belle Vernon, 7-0. Capers already 63 yards rushing. Belle Vernon QB Travis Snyder not playing.

7:51 p.m. - Just received email. Says Blackhawk QB Chandler Kincade out. Don't know any more.

From one of the famous Panuccis, Montour's Julian Durden takes back opening kickoff. 7-0 over New Castle.

Central leads Penn Hills, 7-0

7:47 p.m. - North Allegheny strikes again. Second play of second possession, QB Mack Letwich hits Brendan Coniker on 41-yard TD pass. Coniker makes great diving catch. PAT good. NA leads, 14-7.

Like I thought. Seneca doesn't have much defense.

7:45 p.m. - NA junior lineman Patrick Kugler is a stud. No wonder has scholarship offers already.

7:42 p.m. - Is this going to be a long, high-scoring game? North Allegheny answers with an 11-play, 64-yard drive. Capped by QB Mack Leftwich's 13-yard TD run. Jason Buchert PAT ties it, 7-7, with 6:32 left in first.

Central Valley leads Moon, 21-0, after the first quarter. From Ricci Rich.

7:32 p.m. - First play of game, facemask penalty on NA. Second play - wow. Seneca Valley's Forrest Barnes speeds 57 yards for TD. PAT good and it's 7-0 Seneca with only 32 seconds gone.

7:27 p.m. - Seneca Valley wins toss. Will receive.

7:01 p.m. - Seneca Valley is 3-1 and North Allegheny 4-0. Looked this up earlier today. Seneca Valley hasn't won four of its first five games since 1996. Wow.

I haven't seen Seneca play since Don Holl became coach. Interested to see the Raiders and QB Jordan Brown, leading passer in the WPIAL. I just question whether Seneca has enough on defense to win this game.

7:00 p.m. - First cold night of the year. Just for the heck of it, threw the winter coat in the car just before I left. Glad I did. Football weather, I guess.

Seneca Valley student section here early, making noise.
