Varsity Blog program notes: I'll have a live blog from tonight's Thomas Jefferson-Woodland Hills game. 7 p.m. start. The blog will have some score updates from other games around the area. If you have a score update or a note from a game, email me at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . I'll try to get it on.

On Sunday, I'll do a live blog from the Gateway Kickoff Classic - 2 p.m. is Central Catholic vs. Archbishop Wood. 6 p.m. is Gateway vs. Harrisburg Bishop McDevitt

But first this piece of news ...

Got word this afternoon that Allderdice defensive tackle Tyrique Jarrett committed to Pitt.

Jarrett is 6-3, 320 pounds and also had offers from Cincinnati, Connecticut and a few MAC schools. I spoke with Jarrett earlier and I'll have a small story on his Pitt choice in tomorrow's paper.

I remember Jarrett's father, Jason Jarrett, playing at Clairton decades ago. He was a Post-Gazette Fabulous 22 selection in 1988. Tyrique lives with his mother, but said he hears stories about his father from his grandfather.

Tyrique also plays offensive line, but was recruited by Pitt to play defensive tackle, or even nose guard.

I had a an interview with Tyrique a week ago and I'll give you his comments later this weekend on Varsity Blog. Here is a Varsity Blog posting from earlier today.
