Some WPIAL players still haven't made college decision

Written by Mike White on .

Three WPIAL football players who are being recruited by major colleges might know their college choice, but they're not telling.

McKeesport's Delvon Simmons and Branden Jackson, and Clairton's Desimon Green will probably wait until signing date tomorrow to let the public know their college choices. But Pitt is a finalist with all three.

McKeesport coach Jim Ward said today Jackson, a defensive end-linebacker, will choose from Pitt, Texas Tech and Oregon. I'd say Oregon is a long shot.

Simmons, a defensive lineman, will choose from Pitt, Rutgers, North Carolina, USC and Oregon. I won't venture a guess on Simmons' choice because his recruiting has been all over the map. I still can't see a Western Pa. player going as far away as USC or Oregon. Rutgers or North Carolina? Maybe.

Pitt got involved with both McKeesport players only in the past few weeks.

Green will choose from Texas Tech and Pitt.

Also, there still could be some news tomorrow on Woodland Hills defensive back Lafayette Pitts. He committed to Rutgers last week, but Pitt might still be in the race for him.
