Live blog from the Beaver Falls-Aliquippa game.

9:45 p.m. - Incomplete pass on fourth down. Aliquippa is going to win this one.

9:42 p.m. - Give Beaver Falls a lot of credit. The Tigers were being dominated, but they have come back and made things interesting. Now down on the Aliquippa 18, facing fourth-and-13 with 2:44 left. Tigers trailed 27-0 in the third quarter.

9:38 p.m. - It's now 13 penalties for Aliquippa. Quips still lead, 27-14. Can't wait to hear Mike Zmijanac's comments about his Quips' team after this one.

9:25 p.m. - Well, Beaver Falls has hung tough. Trey Hall just turned a short pass into a 77-yard touchdown and it's now, 27-14, with 9:21 left in the game.

I've come to this conclusion. The MAC in Class AA is not very good this year. Quips definitely the best. Beaver Falls OK and maybe Beaver. After that, not too good.

9:17 p.m. - End of the third quarter and Aliquippa leads, 27-7.

9:02 p.m. - Somebody clean up all the laundry on the field. Aliquippa now has 12 PENALTIES.

Yes, 12.

8:54 p.m. - Beaver Falls on the scoreboard. Two 36-yard pass plays, the second goes for a touchdown, from Carlin Henderson to Royce Watson. Kick good. Now it's Quips, 27-7.

8:49 p.m. - By the way, Aliquippa scored again. It's now 27-0.

8:48 p.m. - OK, maybe Jenkins isn't that good. He just missed his second extra point of the night. But his leg is strong. And he kicks the old-fashioned straight-on style.

8:43 p.m. - Unbelievable. Aliquippa actually has a pretty good kicker. I don't know if I've written that sentence in a long, long time. Marquis Jenkins is a 5-9, 192-pound freshman who has booted a couple kickoffs into the Beaver Falls end zone.

8:19 p.m. - Halftime and it's very one-sided. Aliquippa leads, 21-0. Aliquippa has 142 yards offense in the first half. Beaver Falls 34. This tells you all you need to know about Beaver Falls' plight. Aliquippa has more yards in penalties than Beaver Falls in offense. Quips have been penalized eight times for 57 yards.

8:01 p.m. - I might have to start looking for some other interesting stuff here tonight. Cause this game certainly isn't interesting. It's now 21-0. Darius Walker scored on a 2-yard run. 6:55 left in the half.

Aliquippa's defense looks very good. Don't think they're going to give up many points this season.

7:54 p.m. - Beaver Falls has a 6-2, 225-pound lineman who is a freshman. Brock Boxen. Just made a good defensive play. Certainly one to watch for the future.

7:41 p.m. - Quips and Falls have played some great games in football and basketball over the past 10 years. This one won't add to the tradition. This one could get ugly. Aliquippa moving again, at the BF 21-yard line. End of the first quarter and Quips lead, 13-0.

7:31 p.m. - First play for Beaver Falls, Tigers fumble. Quips Donald McKenzie recovers and returns it 12 yards for a TD. Kick no good, 13-0, Aliquippa.

Beaver Falls is in trouble. I don't see Beaver Falls being able to do much offensively.

7:27 p.m. - Goal-line stand for Beaver Falls. On second possession, Quips drive to the 1-yard line. Fourth-and-goal, QB sneak by Mikal Hall and he's stacked up for no gain.

But will this matter? I question whether Beaver Falls will be able to generate much offense tonight.

7:20 p.m. - Ran into former Aliquippa and Pitt player Josh Lay before the game. Says he's back in town working with young kids as a mentor.

7:12 p.m. - This is not supposed to be a great Beaver Falls team. It is supposed to be a very good Aliquippa team. It showed in the first minute. Three plays. Touchdown Aliquippa. Haetaun Mathis great catch, 32-yard TD pass from Mikal Hall. Kick good, which is always news in Aliquippa. 7-0 Quips.

6:58 p.m. - The horse lives!

The spear has been thrown into the ground. Let the game begin. Aliquippa still has the tradition where a horse comes to the center of the field just before kickoff and throws a spear into the ground.

6:39 p.m. - One of the best things about an Aliquippa game? Gyro Joe's.

Right at the entrance to the stadium is a tent. Selling gyros. Excellent gyros.

WITH REAL GYRO MEAT!!!!!!! Check it out:

6:37 p.m. - Aliquippa warmups.

6:25 p.m. This is FSN Pittsburgh's first Thursday night game of the week. Rob King and Craig Wolfley here for the play by play, and Dan Potash on the sideline. No Meg Bulger on the sideline this year. Was just told FSN has hired another female to be an anchor/reporter.

There is a certain feeling inside "The Pit", Aliquippa's stadium. Official name Carl A. Aschman Stadium. The place is getting old, though. But that field house in the one end zone has a magical feel to it. Years of WPIAL champions are on the wall and the roof.

Froggy 104.3 is set up in front of the stadium.

Froggy_Quips_web I'm OK with that. But isn't Froggy 104.3 country music? I'd like to know how many people listen to country in Quippa. Oh well.
