The Mt. Lebanon boys' basketball team found themselves in national rankings in recent weeks, but the Blue Devils probably will disappear from those rankings this week.
Mt. Lebanon suffered its first loss of the season late Saturday night, dropping a 71-63 decision to Archbishop Carroll in The Prime Time Shootout at Villanova University. The game was scheduled to start at 10 p.m.
It is the first loss of the season for Mt. Lebanon (16-1). The Blue Devils had cracked the top 25 in recent weeks in both USA Today and Maxpreps.com. It's not a bad loss, though, as Archbishop Carroll is the defending state Class AAA champion. Archbishop Carroll is 15-2.
Mt. Lebanon fell behind early and could never catch up, although Lebo did cut the lead to four late in the gmae. The Blue Devils trailed by 15 points at one point in the first half and by 11 after two quarters. Carroll increased its lead to 18 in the second half.
Guard Evan Pierce led Mt. Lebanon with 28 points. Juan'ya Green had 27 points for Carroll.
