On the day of the NFL draft, here is an interesting "factoid" involving a WPIAL school:

Over the past 20 years, Aliquippa is one of only five high schools in the country to have three or more first-round draft picks.

That great nugget of information was dug up by Stephen Spiewak of He examined the draft over the past 20 years and came up with some other interesting facts. Click here to see some of Spiewak's charts and other informatioin. Good stuff.

Aliquippa won't have any first-round picks this year, but the three first-round picks over the past 20 years are Sean Gilbert, Ty Law and Darrelle Revis.

A 26-13 score - in baseball

It sounds like a football game with a few missed extra points, but Blackhawk defeated Ambridge, 26-13, in a WPIAL BASEBALL game Wednesday. I don't remember too many scores like that over the years. And it might have been more if the game wasn't stopped after six innings because of the 10-run rule. Four Blackhawk players had four RBIs or more.
