GAMEDAY: Pitt vs. Rutgers
It's a cold, windy, slightly snowy day at Heinz Field today. A few quick notes before we get started...
- Not that anyone needs a reminder of the stakes for today's game, but here they are: Pitt needs a win to maintain any hope of bowl eligibility (even if that is just another trip to Birmingham). A win for Rutgers would give the Scarlet Knights a share of their first Big East title in school history. They still need a Louisville loss or win over the Cardinals next week to lock up a BCS berth.
- Eighteen Pitt seniors will be making their final Heinz Field appearance today. They are, by order of appearance in the game notes, WR Josh Brinson, OL Zenel Demhasaj, TE Hubie Graham, RB Ray Graham, DL Shayne Hale, PK Kevin Harper, S Jarred Holley, OL Chris Jacobson, DB Marco Pecora, WR Cam Saddler, WR Mike Shanahan, QB Tino Sunseri, S Andrew Taglianetti, LB Joe Trebitz, OL Ryan Turnley, OL Justin Virbitsky, DL Kris Wildman and LB Manny Williams.
Those 18 will be honored prior to kickoff today, and I wrote about their contributions to the program in today's Post-Gazette.
- The field doesn't look good now, especially over the middle, after four WPIAL championships here yesterday. Especially with the weather, it'll be interesting to see how it holds up over the course of the game.
Any predictions for today?
