Off To Practice
Before I head over to Birmingham-Southern College I'll try my best to update this situation based on what I've gathered one more time before updating again:
** Paul Chryst either did interview yesterday or will interview today but he is a legitimate candidate now. I think it was actually Wednesday as Steve Pederson is back in Pittsburgh today and has a series of meetings to attend to, but I don't know that for sure which day it was. At any rate the important thing is, he is legitimately a candidate and no longer just a rumor mill guy.
** Tom Bradley remains the leader of the pack but interestingly enough there seems to be mixed feelings about him among the committee - which is not uncommon and why these things change so quickly and often drag on. Some love him and think he's the right guy, others are not quite as sold and need to be convinced. At any rate, like I wrote yesterday, he's off to Connecticut now to interview for that job. He interviewed Tuesday and while it seems like he is a very strong candidate, he has not yet been offered the job.
** Mario Cristobal remains a "third source" kind of guy at this point but I will keep working hard to find out if he indeed was one of the guys who interviewed with Pederson in Atlanta Wednesday. It sounds like he is, but I don't have it good enough yet to say he definitely was. I'll get it, though.
** Todd Graham interviewed the first time and was a serious candidate and has had contact this second time but it seems like the search is moving away from him and looking elsewhere. At this point, it does not seem like he will be a finalist based on everything I've been told this morning but these things change so much so quickly, I'd stay tuned. Again, I've been told by some of the better sources I have that he does not seem to be gaining momentum again and that his candidacy was more serious the first time around. I'll keep working on it.
** Sal Sunseri is supposed to be here in Birmingham either today or tomorrow so maybe I'll get a chance to talk to him face to face. At any rate, he interviewed Monday and is the one Pitt guy who is known to be a legitimate candidate.
I'll have more as the day unfolds.
